What is an Orthodontist
An Orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the detection and correction of malalignments of the teeth and jaw.
Orthodontists are able to identify and potentially prevent malalignments through developmental screenings. While orthodontic treatment provides a patient with a beautiful, well aligned smile, the importance of orthodontics to the overall health of the teeth and jaw cannot be overstated. The proper correction of malaligned teeth and/or jaw can mitigate future issues with gum disease, tooth decay and excessive wear, as well as TMJ disorder. Malalignments of the teeth and jaw can affect the way we speak, chew and even breathe.
